About Deborah Weiss
Born in New York, Deborah Weiss is a painter and printmaker whose work merges painterly fluency with printmaking techniques. Her works on paper, panel and canvas interpret and explore the nuances of the natural world. She has exhibited throughout the United States as well as in England, Ireland, Italy, China and Denmark. Her work is included in both private and public collections. She maintains a studio and residence in Connecticut.
"My work has always been nature based," Deborah says of her work. "In my most recent series 'Blooms' I explore the concept of the contemporary botanical print. I have used my hand dyed and painted papers as my 'medium' for these cut and assembled collages. Choosing to interpret the textures and organic shapes in blue and white is in reverence to the rich history of this color pairing. First in China and later throughout Europe, blue + white was treasured. This combination has become a timeless dyad that is both contemporary and classic."
