Sorelle Gallery is pleased to announce Awakening, the upcoming floral exhibition and expo featuring a variety of floral artwork by Sorelle artists including abstract floral paintings by Kay Flierl and Christine Averill-Green, encaustic works by Linda Bigness, paintings by Juniper Briggs, botanical illustrations by Elizabeth Iadicicco, and more. The exhibition will open on Saturday, May 11, 2024 at Sorelle Gallery in downtown Westport, CT with a reception from 3:00 – 5:00pm.

The opening reception will not only kick off the nearly month-long group exhibition at Sorelle, but will also feature light refreshments and a specialty floral cocktail for Spring. At 3:30pm, join Amber Hogan of Harborview Cakes as she demonstrates her process of piping buttercream flowers; taste samples of her sweet floral creations and see the intricate details that bring her delicious desserts to life. At 4:00pm, Miranda Gould of New Petal Flower Farm will provide a bouquet-building demo. Beautifully packaged floral cupcakes and cakes by Harborview Cakes and floral arrangements by New Petal Flower Farm will also be available for sale.

A percentage of proceeds made by all partnering organizations during the opening reception, as well as sales made by all featured artists during the nearly month-long exhibition will be donated to local sustainability-focused organization Earthplace.

“Showcasing a larger group of artists together in this exhibition gives us an opportunity to highlight the wide breadth of artwork styles we carry at Sorelle,” says Sorelle Gallery Owner, Sandy Pelletier. “This show and corresponding opening event bring together amazing creative elements to celebrate the Spring season, while also spotlighting incredible women-run local businesses to benefit a wonderful cause at Westport’s own Earthplace. And, our hope is that the reception, which combines art, flowers, cake, and cocktails will be a fun stop for Mom on the itinerary this coming Mother’s Day weekend.”

Awakening will be on view at Sorelle Gallery’s Westport, CT location at 19 Church Lane through June 1, 2024. The show and associated opening reception are free and open to the public. Street parking is available. This is a family friendly event. Dogs welcome.

About Harborview Cakes
Harborview Cakes just celebrated its first year in business! Amber has been baking her whole life but was thrown for a loop when her boys were diagnosed with egg allergies as infants. Unable to find beautiful AND tasty egg free desserts she decided to take this as a challenge and do it herself. She has spent the last 8 years perfecting her recipes and skills. She specializes in buttercream cakes and cupcakes with a passion for realistic buttercream flowers! Amber’s favorite part about owning Harborview Cakes is meeting so many amazing people in our community and being a small part of so many life events.
