About Julie Hansen
Julie Hansen creates colorful works that reflect her love of travel and the joy that comes with new experiences. About 15 years ago Julie and her family moved to Melbourne, Australia for two years. The experience greatly influenced her work, and through it, the boat series was born. It has evolved over the years; however, the source of her inspiration has stayed the same. The colors of the bay, exotic vegetation, and bathing boxes informed her bright and vivid color palettes. Her abstract boat paintings feature elegant, linear compositions that are harmonious through the use of color and form. Currently, she enjoys working with neutral and monochromatic color ways as well, and a touch of gold leaf is found in some of her newer paintings. Julie works from her award winning (Professional Artist Magazine top 25 studios 2014) home studio in Kansas City, Missouri, where she lives with her husband, three children and two golden doodles.
Julie holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in painting and drawing from the University of Missouri-Columbia, 1996. She is an internationally collected artist who has work in many private and corporate collections across the country, including Great Britain, Canada, Denmark, Australia and Singapore.
