"This is a large square abstract acrylic painting done in loose painterly strokes. The palette of soft greens, blues, and salmon pink features tumbling abstract expressionistic shape and line. Mother and Child is part of the 2023 collection, “Places To Be“. While it doesn’t fit into the category of landscape, necessarily, it was created with this series, sharing the same color palette and space in the studio, absorbing the same music and sentiment this collection created. The shapes that emerged made me think of the blessed Mother Mary and baby Jesus. Ireland is nothing, if not a sacred place perpetuating all things Godly. This is my ode to the sacred cathedrals and catacombs we visited while there. An ode to motherhood...in my mind, the greatest place to be." - Mary Gaspar
