Description
“Arctic” is a luminous sculpture made from century-old landfill glass by Resurrect Studio, the collaborative practice of Nancy Wu and Jean Davis. Measuring 15 x 12 x 6 inches, the work features historic New York City landfill glass fragments naturally weathered by tide, sand, and time.
Layered fragments of clear, aqua, turquoise, and cobalt blue glass create a cool, glacial composition that evokes ice, water, and shifting arctic light. Jagged translucent shards gather before a pale blue circular form, giving the piece depth, movement, and quiet strength.
Described by the artists as “3D watercolors,” Arctic changes with the light, revealing subtle shifts in texture, opacity, and tone while transforming once-forgotten glass into a poetic sculpture of renewal and preservation.
