Vega - Glass Sculpture
Description
Named for the brightest star in the Lyra constellation, “Vega” is a luminous sculpture made from century-old landfill glass by Resurrect Studio, the collaborative practice of Nancy Wu and Jean Davis. Measuring 12 x 12 x 14 inches, the work features layered fragments of Victorian-era glass recovered from New York City landfill sites, softened and transformed by more than a century of tide and time.
Pale green, aqua, translucent white, and subtle golden tones radiate outward in a crystalline formation, creating a presence that feels both organic and celestial. Described by the artists as “3D watercolors,” Vega catches and refracts light from every angle, shifting between fragility and strength, memory and renewal.
