We are pleased to announce that abstract artwork by artist Kelly Rossetti is now part of the Sorelle collection!
Kelly Rossetti is a contemporary abstract and figurative painter based in Westport, CT. While primarily self-taught, she studied classical oil painting at a small Atelier in New York City, where she credits building her artistic foundation and fascination with the figurative form. Kelly works in both acrylic and oil paint and often utilizes an array of mixed media to achieve depth, texture and marks.
"Whether it be loose and expressive figurative drawings or large, abstract paintings, I strive to capture and evoke emotion," Kelly says of her artwork. "My non-objective abstract paintings nearly always begin with playful actions - loose mark making that injects a sense of life force energy into the painting. My emphasis on line and layer is executed using multiple media and tools. This provides variety for the viewer and their response. Discovering small hints of what lies beneath the surface plays a critical role in the composition and in my body of work as a whole."
Kelly's whimsically-colored abstract paintings are expressive and energetic, but often retain a peaceful undercurrent about them. While some appear purely abstract, relying more on balance of design, others utilize thinner lines or deeper layers of color in certain spaces to subtly suggest an almost fantastical landscape.
"Kelly's palette tends to be cool, but bold when it needs to be," says Sorelle owner, Sandy Pelletier. "She's not afraid to balance out deep, rich tones, with warm orange, pink, and red. We're thrilled to be able to offer her work at Sorelle - she seems to have an innate ability to achieve visual balance."
"A career in the fashion industry has also influenced my aesthetic approach," Kelly says. "As an executive in sales and merchandising, I worked with designers to forecast fashion and analyze color trends. This exposure and training of evaluating color combinations and coordinating collections ultimately helped fine-tune my sense of color."
Kelly's original work is also available as fine art prints. You can shop all her available work on her Artist Page.
